David A. Jara, age 68, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2026 in the comfort of his home.

A memorial service will be held on August 18th at 10:30 am at Morgan-Kaduk Funeral Home & Cremation Service in New Port Richey, FL. Following the service will be military honors and memorial at 1:30 pm at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Attendees are also invited to a luncheon at Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club at 2:45 pm.

Born on April 25, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan Dave was the son of Ervin and Helen Jara. He was a graduate of Grosse Pointe North High School in Wayne County, Michigan. Shortly after high school, he joined the Navy as an Aviation Machinist's Mate. Dave left the Navy as a Petty Officer Second Class then joined the Coast Guard which he retired from as a Petty Officer First Class. He committed 30 years of service to the military during which he performed many search and rescue missions, dedicating himself to public service and saving lives of those in need. Dave had a passion for music and was a talented drummer. He was an avid sports fan with a love for the Detroit Lions. He enjoyed playing video games and spending time with his closest companion, his dog Hazel. Dave was kind hearted and loved sharing his joy and humor with his loved ones. He will be dearly missed by his children and siblings.

Dave is survived by his children: Matthew Jara, Michael Jara (his wife Alyssa Jara), and Katherine Jara (her fiancé Kevin Redfern) and their child Silas Redfern - Dave’s grandchild ; his stepchildren: Claire Schrider-Huisken (her husband Ian Schrider-Huisken) and Margaret Bogatescu (her husband Charlie Bogatescu) ; his siblings: Michael Jara (his wife Mari Jara), Marie Ulmer (her husband Doug Ulmer), Steve Jara (his wife Chris Jara), Jim Jara (his wife Vicki Jara), Chrissy Guest (her husband Matt Guest), Bobby Jara (his wife Shannon Jara); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
