Howard Cronin, 84, passed away on October 15, 2026. He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories, a loving family, and a legacy of hard work, generosity, and adventure.
Born and raised in Haverhill, Massachusetts, Howard was the second of eight children. He spent the first half of his life in Massachusetts, where he established himself as a self-employed general contractor. A hardworking, determined, and resourceful man, Howard believed in doing things right and giving his very best to everything he undertook. He was quite simply one of the hardest-working men you could ever meet.
In 1986, Howard met and fell in love with Alison, beginning a beautiful partnership that would span four decades. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and countless memories.
In 1990, Howard and Alison moved to Florida, where Howard continued to pursue his passions and enjoy life to the fullest. Boating, recreational vehicle travel, and clay shooting became some of his favorite pastimes. In 1993, he established A&H Trucking, a business he proudly owned and operated until his retirement in 2007. Never one to sit still for long, Howard embraced retirement by hitting the open road and traveling throughout the United States with Alison.
A true biker at heart, Howard had a lifelong love of Harley-Davidsons, riding for more than 60 years. There was nothing quite like the freedom of the open road, the rumble of his Harley, and the adventures waiting around the next bend. Whether on his Harley or out on the water, Howard was happiest when enjoying the freedom of the outdoors. He was a man's man in every sense of the word — strong, independent, hardworking, and always ready for the next adventure.
But beneath that rugged exterior was an extraordinarily thoughtful and generous man with a heart of gold. Howard was always willing to lend a helping hand, never hesitating to be there for someone in need. His kindness, loyalty, and willingness to help others made him deeply loved by all who knew him.
Howard is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Alison; his son, Tracy Cronin; his grandson, Michael Cronin; and his two great-grandchildren, Luca and Natalia. He also leaves behind his siblings, Doranne, Tom, Lucy Anne, Cheryl, Matt, Doug, and Heather; his extended family; and many friends who will forever treasure his memory.
Howard lived life on his own terms, worked hard, loved deeply, and made the most of the journey. His presence will be profoundly missed, but the memories he created and the love he shared will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Howard's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Howard's memory.
Eighty-four years of life. A most rewarding life, lived to the fullest. With a lifetime of memories.
The road goes on, and so does the love.
Ride free, Howie. Until we meet again.
