Robert Edward Goins

April 23, 1940 — June 6, 2026

New Port Richey

Robert Edward Goins (aka Bob), born on April 23, 1940, passed away on June 6, 2026. Born in LaFollette, Tennessee, Robert was the son of Luther and Helen Goins and one of eleven children.

He is survived by his children, Tanya, Todd, and Lisa; his son-in-law, John; his grandchildren, Joshua, Dalton, Lauren, Jordyn, and Jeremy; and his two great-grandchildren.

Faith in God were central to Robert’s life. For more than seven years, he faithfully served in the food pantry at the King of Kings church, cared for the memorial garden, and welcomed others as an usher. He was also a proud member of the American Legion, Moose Club, and Elks Lodge.

Robert found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. He loved fishing anytime and anywhere, especially with his friend Dennis in Sylva, North Carolina. As a HAM radio operator, he enjoyed connecting with people from around the world. Karaoke was one of his greatest passions, and he was a devoted Tennessee Volunteers fan who truly bled orange and white. Above all, he treasured spending time with his family.

Among his many accomplishments, Robert served as an umpire at the first-ever Big-League Girls Softball World Series in 1982. He also dedicated time to coaching baseball and umpiring at Interbay Little League, leaving a lasting impact on many young athletes and their families.

Robert will be remembered for his love for family, his love to sing and the warmth and kindness he brought to those around him. Those who knew him will always smile when they remember one of his familiar sayings, “Anyhow,” especially when he was ready to end a conversation.
