With profound heartbreak and deep love, our family announces the passing of our beloved sister, mother, daughter, auntie, and friend, Rosa Ana Vélez, who left this world on November 22, 2025. Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in knowing she is now wrapped in the eternal peace of God, reunited with our parents, Ana Rosa Alicea and Jaime Vélez, as well as our cherished sisters Angie & Michelle, and other loved ones who welcomed her home. Rosas worked hard at Haverty's Furniture to provide for her greatest pride and joy, her three children, Madonna, Julian, and Cariana whom she adored more than life itself. They were her purpose, her motivation, and the center of everything she accomplished. Her love for them was boundless and fierce, and she carried that devotion with her in every step she took.
Born into a large, close-knit, faith-filled family, Rosa was one of seven maternal siblings: Esther, Angie, Ruthie, Lillian, Jaime (Tito), and Maria. Later joined by Michelle after our mother remarried. When our father remarried, we grew even bigger with our half siblings: Marizol, Wilson, Luis, James, Lissette, and Robinson. Each of us shared a unique bond with Rosa - with laughter, loyalty, and countless memories. As sisters and brothers, we grew up inseparable, our connections forming an unbreakable circle of love. Rosa stood at the center of that circle; our spark, our humor, our "ride or die."
To know Rosa was to love her. She was the life of every gathering, the energy that filled the room, the one who could turn even an ordinary day into something magical. She brought theme parties to life, costumes, decorations, and her laughter echoing through the house and somehow always made everyone feel included, celebrated, and loved. Her warm spirit was magnetic; people were drawn to her joy, generosity, and fierce loyalty. She was down for everything, ready to help, ready to laugh, ready for shots and ready to show up for the people she loved.
Raised in Christian faith, Rosa carried a quiet but powerful belief in God's presence. In that faith, we find peace today. "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."- Psalm 34:18 Though we mourn deeply here on earth, we take comfort in knowing she is safely in God's hands, embraced by family gone before her, and surrounded by a love even greater than the beautiful love she shared with all of us.
Her light, laughter, and legacy will live forever in the hearts of her children, her siblings, her family, and the many lives she touched. Rosa Ana Vélez "Ochie" will be forever cherished, forever missed, and forever loved...
Celebration of Life will be on her birthday, 04/11/2026, at 6PM.
